Vic loved winning races and getting his name and birds on the leader boards, but he very much disliked all those big pesky trophies taking up space he really didn’t have for displaying them all. So what he did early on was remove the plaque plates from the trophies and box up all the actual trophies and returned to the pigeon association to be reused with new plates.
He would then glue all those plates onto a blank wood plaque as you can see from the pictures.
After a while the club started making plaques with all the winnings engraved on the one plaque or multiple plaques depending on how many wins he had that year. This, too, is shown in the images.
Now, keep in mind, Vic was unlike most racers…he did not keep a lot of the rewards he would receive. He only kept – hung – and displayed the rewards that meant something to him. Like he said, if he kept everything then he’d need a bigger house to display them all… Hahaha..
The birds and wins Vic was most proud of displayed in his man cave room.
These are all his earliest awards he treasured.
