Take a tour of our 4-Way Pigeon Loft and see our birds close up. This is our new place out in the county where we have been blessed with lots of acreage and open space.
I am inside the homer pigeon loft fly pen hand feeding my racing pigeons with my loyal companion, Bucky by my side. This was my old place before moving to my new location.
One of Vic’s favorite past times was just passing the time hanging out with his pigeons. He said you really don’t know your birds unless you become one of them…sort of speak…lol.
My daily scraping – loft cleaning routine, but on this day I am preparing the boxes for breeding season to give them nest bowls.
Daily routine perch cleaning – scraping all to the floor and using shovel to remove it.
Continuing the preparation for Nest Bowls.
Showing windows after cleaning debris buildup between window and wire cover. Wire protects the outer screen.
Here you see the birds are delighted with the nest bowls I just gave them for the start of breeding season.
Again, after taking video I did remove window debris as shown in above pics.
After putting out nest bowls, I then attach these half boards as you can visually see in this picture.
This in turn offers the birds 2 benefits, 1.) offers a sense of privacy keeping other birds from flying directly into their box and 2.) keeps nest bowls in place preventing any chance of an accidental fall.
